The Ftse Mib breaks through 30,000 points. This has not happened for over 15 years: since June 2008.
During today’s session, the Ftse Mib, the main index of the Italian stock exchange, broke through the 30-thousand-point mark. It currently stands at 30,038.39, up almost half a percentage point from yesterday. It had been over 15 years since the Ftse Mib had touched 30,000 points.
Piazza Affari closed the first session of December by touching the 30,000-point mark (Ftse Mib +0.64% to 29,928 points), last touched on 26 June 2008. Trading was normal, at EUR 1.98 billion, well below the EUR 5.94 billion on the eve of the event and the EUR 2.7 billion two days ago.
The Euro Stoxx 50 index closed trading at +0.70 per cent, while in Piazza Affari the Ftse Mib index rose by 0.77 per cent. European financial markets ended the session in positive territory, despite negative pressures on Wall Street’s major indices following employment data.
Furthermore, 2023 was a record year for the Italian stock exchange, which outperformed the markets of the rest of Europe and the World.
European stock exchanges continued without much momentum and with some caution, following Wall Street’s negative start.
Among the most bought stocks were Pirelli (+3.88%) in the wake of Ubs’ buy recommendation, and Iveco (+2.4%), which sold its distribution and retail business in northern Europe to Hedin Mobility Group.
